I work in the NHS investigating incidents within Family Services and so had a warped view on childbirth. We’d also had cases of births by forceps where the babies had some fracturing and I wasn’t going to risk that happening to my baba. The experience itself was lovely. The team were amazing and the head anaesthetist made it a party taking pics. As my partner is a teacher it was also really helpful to know the date so he could be there and we had plenty of time with him at home. The downside was that I was in A LOT of pain the week following the birth. I think it eased about day 10. I felt extra miserable as I wasn’t able to pick up my daughter and had to rely on my partner. 6 months later I still have guilt over whether I made the right decision and I feel a sense that I “cheated”. We plan on having another and I’m really not sure which route I want to take next time. It’s definitely NOT the easy option. → Reply To: Sleep
