The family run a luxury property business and help clients sell and buy stunning and envy-inducing homes in France and abroad. It’s basically a more sophisticated European version of the brash but totally fabulous Selling Sunset! Watch Now The Bold Type – Netflix & Amazon Prime The Bold Type follows three young women as they start their careers at Scarlet – a women’s magazine. Jane, Sutton and Kat are ambitious, fun, and relatable as young twenty-somethings. We follow them as they navigate their work, friendships, relationships, and the general messiness of your twenties! The Bold Type clearly prides itself on its vision of female camaraderie and feminist ideals and it is an easy watch reminiscent of the early Sex and the City seasons. Watch Now The Tokyo Olympics – BBC The Tokyo Olympics are finally going ahead! Unfortunately due to rising Covid cases in Japan there won’t be a crowd to watch but it is still bound to be the sporting event of the year (although the Euros were also pretty exciting!) The opening ceremony will be held on Friday 23rd July and then follows two weeks of seeing the best athletes competing in the ultimate competition. BOOKS Underbelly – Anna Whitehouse The first fiction novel by Anna Whitehouse (perhaps better known as Mother Pukka) and her husband Matt Farquharson. They are both journalists, campaigners for flexible working rights for parents and co-authors of the excellent bestsellers – Parenting the Sh*t Out of Life and Where’s My Happy Ending? Underbelly is a story about Lo and Dylan – mothers who meet at the school gates and are propelled into each other’s homes and lives. Lo is the ultimate middle-class mother. Dylan is just about surviving and managing to keep food on the table. Grazia describes Underbelly as “darkly voyeuristic but with heart – as funny as it is painful and true.” Underbelly is available for pre-order now and will be released on August 5th 2021. Pre-Order Now The Lucky Escape – Laura Jane Williams The perfect easy summer read – funny, heart-warming, and joyful. The Lucky Escape is a feel-good read about finding love in unexpected places – a jilted bride jets off on honeymoon with an old flame rather than her new husband! Annie doesn’t expect to be left standing at the alter and it makes her question how she got everything quite so wrong but a chance meeting with Patrick reminds her who she used to be. “I can’t remember the last time a book made me forget I had a phone. Pure escapist fiction!” Stacey Halls, author of The Familiars. Buy Now PODCASTS Pieces of Britney – Pandora Sykes Pieces of Britney is the most recent podcast from journalist Pandora Sykes. She pieces together the information we know about Britney’s story and what it tells us all about sex, education and how women are treated in the public eye. Sykes explores Britney’s early rise to fame, her treatment in the early 00’s by the media, her subsequent breakdown and her father’s control of her affairs. The analysis comes from psychologists, music industry executives and cultural commentators. Sykes is excellent at leading the conversation about Spears and handles the issues perceptively and it’s certainly an absorbing and thought-provoking podcast. Listen Now HOSTEing by Laura Jackson Laura Jackson is a broadcaster, food lover, interiors obsessive and runs famous monthly supper clubs – which are an absolute masterclass in how to entertain. She is now presenting her debut podcast – HOSTEing. She chats all things food, travel and interiors with a variety of guests. It’s full of tips on how to host, gives amazing restaurant recommendations and ideas on where to find fabulous vintage crockery. What else would you want from a podcast?! Listen Now EVENTS Van Gogh Alive – The Experience at Kensington Gardens – London 4th June – 26th September 2021 Van Gogh Alive is the most visited immersive multi-sensory experience in the world – it’s dazzled over 7 million visitors in 65 cities. It’s set within a 25,000ft purpose-built venue in Kensington Gardens and it is bound to be London’s biggest attraction this summer! You can explore and immerse yourself in Van Gogh’s celebrated work – there are detailed projections with digital surround sound and smells – you will feel like you are in the South of France! The exhibition has been designed to appeal to all ages – children under 5 years old are admitted free of charge. More details Buckingham Palace Gardens – London Now – until 19th September 2021 A picnic with the Queen in her garden – sounds like the perfect summer activity! Why not take the children to London this summer and book a visit to Buckingham Palace Gardens – open for the public to explore freely for the first time. There are many features to discover – such as the trees planted by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, the famous lake with an island that is home to the Buckingham Palace bees and the stunning 156m herbaceous border! You can purchase refreshments in the garden, but you are also allowed to bring in your own food and drink. More details Tatton Park Pop Up Festival – Knutsford, Cheshire 25th June – 29th August 2021 The Tatton Park Pop Up Festival is a 10-week outdoor boutique festival – offering 52 different music and entertainment performances. The festival is set in Tatton Park – a stunning 2000 acres of parkland in Cheshire. It’s a socially distanced festival and allows people to enjoy fabulous entertainment, food, and cocktails with a beautiful lakeside backdrop – all within your own private and furnished pitch area! We’re planning on attending Kidchella and the Princess Tea Party with the little ones and checking out the Bohemian Disco with our friends!
