This Netflix version is certainly a modern take on a period drama – there are many eye rolls, nods, and monologues to camera – very reminiscent of Fleabag! The beautiful Dakota Johnson is superb as Anne. Watch Now Where the Crawdads Sing – cinemas nationwide (22nd July) There has been a lot of hype and buzz about this film and we are really looking forward to it. “For years, rumours of the “Marsh Girl” have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So, in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life – until the unthinkable happens.” Daisy Edgar-Jones is sensational in the lead role of Kya. Watch Now Books Ghost Lover – Lisa Taddeo This is the second novel from the author Lisa Taddeo (she is also the bestselling author of the incredible Three Women). Ghost Lover consists of nine short stories that ‘brings to life the fever of obsession, the blindness of love and the mania of grief.’ In one story… “Behind anonymous screens, an army of cool and beautiful girls manage the dating service Ghost Lover, a forwarding system for text messages that promises to spare you the anguish of trying to stay composed while communicating with your crush.” Ghost Lover would make for a perfect summer beach read. Read Now The Whalebone Theatre – Joanna Quinn The Whalebone Theatre is a beautifully told coming-of-age story set in the shadow of an oncoming war. “With her step-parents blithely distracted by their endless party guests, Cristabel and her siblings, Flossie and Digby, scratch together an education from the plays they read in their freezing attic, drunken conversations eavesdropped through oak-panelled doors, and the esoteric lessons of Maudie their maid. But as the children grow to adulthood and war approaches, jolting their lives on to very different tracks, it becomes clear that the roles they are expected to play are no longer those they want.” Read Now Podcast Mama’s Milk – Millie Mackintosh and Charlie Boud Millie Mackintosh is best known for the years she spent as one of the main cast members of Made in Chelsea – she is now happily married to Hugo (a fellow Made in Chelsea alumni) and has two beautiful daughters. I am a singer and have released 7 albums in-between having my 5 sons who are aged between 1 and 16 so I spin a few plates myself.
