The TV show will focus on the fictionalised story of Maggie and Birdy – two young women who have remained best friends since school. The official synopsis reads: “[Everything I Know About Love is] a generous, funny, warm-hearted, and uplifting Sex and The City for millennials which covers bad dates and squalid flat-shares, heartaches, and humiliations, and, most importantly, unbreakable female friendships.” We can’t wait! Watch Now Love Island – ITV (6th June) Love it or hate it – there is no escaping it! Love Island is back! ITV is keeping quiet on all the details but we do know that Love Island has a new villa in Mallorca, Laura Whitmore is back hosting and Iain Stirling will continue his role as narrator. There is always so much debate about whether Love Island offers enough in the way of diversity so it will be interesting to see who the contestants are for 2022. The makers of Love Island do deserve some praise as they have ditched their usual fast-fashion sponsor of the show in favour of eBay. It’s the perfect summer beach read! “When Lizzie calls off her wedding in the south of France only a week before the big day, not even her closest friends know why. But when the group arrives, the wedding is waiting for them – food, flowers, and all. The next day, Lizzie wakes to find her friends have drunkenly revelled in the wedding-that-wasn’t – but not all their antics were benign. Someone is set on tormenting Lizzie, and she can’t think who.” Buy Now Fix the System, Not the Women – Laura Bates Laura Bates is a feminist writer and activist – she founded the Everyday Sexism Project. In this book, ‘Fix the System, Not the Women’ Laura connects the dots between incidents of violence against women and the institutional and systemic misogyny that is ingrained in our society. “Every three days in the UK, women are murdered by their current or former partners. 137 women worldwide are killed by a family member every day. These are not isolated incidents. They are part of a devastatingly clear pattern. But it is a pattern we are so used to seeing that we simply don’t notice it anymore. These incidents are the product of a society in which misogyny is so deeply ingrained that it has simply become part of our daily lives.” It’s a challenging but entertaining and informative read. Laura gives intelligent advice. “Get your daughters to read this, but only after your partners and sons have finished it!” Buy Now Podcasts Unreal: A Critical History of Reality TV – Pandora Sykes and Sirin Kale Journalists Pandora Sykes and Sirin Kale explore how reality TV shapes our lives and the ethical questions raised by the format, featuring iconic shows and stars.
