Agora Health Female Hormone Test The hormone imbalance blood test checks 11 key biomarkers that can indicate a hormone imbalance or a thyroid problem. It can also help check how your hormone levels are affecting your fertility and help those using HRT monitor their hormone levels. £88 Why Did You Want to Do it? “I wanted to do this because I’ve been feeling really tired and emotional recently and wondered if some kind of imbalance was causing me to feel this way. It’s a tricky one to approach with the doctor, especially when you’re a new mum, and I thought this was a great way to find out for myself without answering too many intrusive and uncomfortable questions. I’ve also had an underactive thyroid since I was a teenager and have never really felt like my symptoms have 100% improved, so I was keen to get a more in-depth breakdown of my thyroid health.” Overall Thoughts? “The test itself was beautifully packaged and it’s great value considering what’s involved. But I’ll be honest: it wasn’t easy and was quite painful. My results showed that everything is in the normal range, which is reassuring and there was a lot of detail on each of the 11 areas that they test. You also have a doctor check over your results who gives you a summary and they suggested I keep an eye on my TSH thyroid levels and that I could ask my doctor about the dosage of my prescribed medication. I was a little disappointed as I thought I’d maybe get more of an answer as to why I’ve been feeling so emotional and tired. However, it is good to know that these feelings are probably down to me being a busy mum to two young children rather than having a serious health issue.” Would You Recommend it? “I wouldn’t if you’re squeamish, as taking the blood tests is tricky, and I found them painful. But if that doesn’t faze you, then I’d say yes to anyone who wants to find out if there’s an issue, and they either don’t feel confident going to their doctor. Or they want to fast-track the process of discovering if something could be up.” The Mum Club12 August 2024 ← The 10 Biggest Challenges of Having a Newborn in Summer → TMC Recipe of the Week: Affogato
