Book your treatment now Mum Life X Career What is the story behind Ruuby? “I launched Ruuby in 2016 after identifying a gap in the market for home beauty services. This was around the time that Uber and Deliveroo were really taking off, and I thought that London needed something similar for high-quality beauty and wellness services.” Something you’ve learnt that is crucial to success “Having a tribe and mentors is essential. I regularly speak with a number of people who are further along on the journey than I am. They can speak and advise with experience under their belt. At the same time, having a network of people at the same stage as you is also important – bouncing around ideas and challenges makes it easier.” How important is it to switch off? “It is crucial, and I have experienced times of burnout when trying to manage my family and business. This summer, I managed to get away for a couple of holidays, which helped me relax and get some perspective. I can be obsessive about Ruuby! I always say to my team how important it is to take time off and clear the mind – you come back so much stronger.” How do you manage mum guilt? “Mum guilt is very real! I think the most important thing is quality time. I make sure that when spending time with Penelope, I am 100% focused on her. I always make sure we do fun activities together and really bond – I love it.
