Book into a Restorative Sleep Day

The recently renovated H Spa at Horwood House has just launched an Aromatherapy Associates Restorative Sleep Day. So naturally, we needed to test it out.

TMC Co-Founder Jessica Lawes went along with her mum, and this is what she thought.

What is a Sleep Day?

“The day includes full use of the spa facilities from 9am to 5pm, a 60-minute Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax Body Treatment and a delicious Afternoon Tea. It’s the ideal way to take some time out, reboot and set yourself up for a good night’s sleep. *If that’s ever possible with young children.”

Do You Actually Nap?

“I had a Deep Relax Full Body Massage. It took around 60 minutes and was blissful. I usually go for a facial on a spa day, but the massage was exactly what I needed. I really enjoyed the use of Aromatherapy Associates aromatic oils; they smelt amazing but also helped me completely relax.
Afterwards, we used the sleep room and silently lay on the comfy beds for a good hour. I didn’t nap, but it is the perfect place to have one.
The grounds that the hotel and spa are set in are beautiful. It’s not a big spa, but that means it isn’t busy, which I liked. I could have gone straight to bed after the day, but unfortunately, I was not staying over, and it was time to get the kids.”

What is Horwood House & Spa Like?

“I took my mum along with me. She is always a great help with the children even though she doesn’t live nearby, it was nice to do something sans kids with her. It’s only when you spend time together without the children that you realise you hardly ever spend one on one time together. So, this is a PSA to take your mum to a spa! The grounds that the hotel and spa are set in are beautiful. It’s not a big spa, but that means it isn’t busy, which I liked. I could have gone straight to bed after the day, but unfortunately, I was not staying over, and it was time to get the kids.”

Anything You’d Change?

“Although the day was such a treat, it was a shame to get out of my robe and head back to ‘reality’ when I was in such a relaxed mood. Next time I would certainly stay over to make the most of it, and I’d also like to try out ‘Harry’s Bar’ for lunch.”

The Health Clubs That Look After Your Kids

Whether it’s to workout or just have an uninterrupted shower or a coffee.

These health clubs are here to support you in every which way you need.

David Lloyd Clubs
David Lloyd Clubs

There are over 100 David Lloyd clubs in the UK. So there’s bound to be one near you! And most of them have creches.
They’re all pretty amazing tbh but some clubs, like Kings Hill (near Maidstone), have outdoor swimming pools with waiter service to sun loungers. Which means in the summer you can have a mini holiday (drink rose) for 1-2 hours, while someone else looks after the kids.

Club Company Country Clubs
Club Company Country Clubs

It sounds so fancy to be part of a country club doesn’t it? And to be honest it is. They have 15 in the UK and each one combines a traditional golf environment with state-of-the-art health and fitness facilities that the whole family can enjoy. Most have creches and kids classes, which are included in a very reasonable membership. The adults one is a little more pricey.
We have visited two of their clubs;
The first is Nizels in Sevenoaks, Kent, a premium location, which has a beautiful spa, a hairdresser, a dedicated wellness team (including a Mummy MOT and Women’s health practioner).
The other is Chartham Park, West Sussex, which has a great selection of classes for both you and the kids, is extremely welcoming and the creche staff are so friendly.
The cafe and gym both boast the most stunning views of the golf club and are a great place to relax, workout or have a coffee in peace.

Virgin Active

Probably the most well known. There are Virgin Active clubs everywhere and lots have an on-site creche that is open to children from 6 weeks to 4 years. Plus unlike a lot of other clubs members can use it for a whopping 4 hours a day. Great if you work part time and need flexible childcare options as you can fit in a class, a coffee and maybe even do some work!
