Pro IconPros

No request was too much.

The staff were brilliant but not intrusive.

Interiors to die for.

Beautiful setting and plenty to do (weather permitting)

Con IconCons

Expensive and activities cost extra.

Not lots of kids’ bikes available.

“It’s spenny but so worth it. I’d definitely go back, but it would need to be for a special occasion.”

Overall thoughts

“I booked The Farmhouse at Wilderness Reserve for my 30th birthday with some friends and family. From the moment we arrived, I was made to feel special. A bottle of champagne in the fridge with a handwritten ‘Happy 30th Birthday’ note and a homemade Victoria sponge on the side meant this place was seriously ticking my boxes. I’m clearly more easily pleased than my husband would accept or believe. The grounds are beautiful, and the interiors are breath-taking. There’s also a huge lake you can row boats on, just like The Notebook, but with screaming kids. Set in the picturesque countryside, you get around on classic peppermint-coloured bikes. It is an Instagrammers haven *but luckily, we didn’t see any in the wild. Being in a big group made it for me, cooking feasts together and eating around the huge farmhouse table. Then once the kids went to bed, the party continued. It was just brilliant. My cup was filled. I absolutely would go again, but it would have to be for a special occasion to justify the cost.”

What is it?
What is it?

“Wilderness Reserve is an 8000-acre estate of woodland, lakes and rolling pasture sprinkled with an eclectic collection of historic and traditional Suffolk properties. Lovingly restored by artisans, each home has a unique character. From the grand Grade II listed manor house and restored 15th century barn, to charming, thatched cottages and romantic retreats, Wilderness Reserve is a long-term conservation and restoration project – protecting English nature and breathing new life into historic properties.”

Was it good value?

“There’s no denying that a stay here is costly. But you get what you pay for. It is stunning and private. They can cater for every need: breakfast boxes, private chefs, paddle boarding lessons, fire feasts, spa treatments – the list is endless. I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t refuse any requests, but it does come at a cost. That being said, you can just go and enjoy the setting. There’s the lake, bike rides and a very scenic outdoor pool and hot tub all included in the grounds. We lucked out and managed to walk past an archery demonstration where they let us come and have a go for half an hour and ate low of free snacks and gin. We managed to get it for free, but it would have cost £75pp if we’d booked. I did book the breakfast hamper for our stay, which gave us enough food for the following three meals (and we were catering for big rugby players). So, stingy, they are not.”

With five different dipping pools, there’s also aromatherapy and steam rooms and a unique heart-shaped wine bath (*sadly alcohol-free) that you can dip into post-massage. Following on with the theme of being kind to yourself, we recommend shedding any mum guilt you might be feeling. We often attach it to everything we do as mums. From worrying that we spend too much time on chores, work or admin and not enough time on play. Or simple things like not managing to label clothes for nursery or if we forgot to book that flu jab. The list is long, and you’re doing great. But this book is a brilliant reminder to pick up whenever you’re having a moment.

TMC Family Recipe Of The Week: Chocolate Mug Cake

Ingredients

3 tablespoons coconut oil (or olive oil/rapeseed oil)
1 egg, at room temperature
3 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-4 tablespoons honey, maple syrup, or granulated sugar
1/4 cup plain flour
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon brewed coffee
28g semi-sweet chocolate chunks, very roughly chopped

Method

1. Melt the coconut oil in a big microwave-safe mug. Whisk in the egg, milk, vanilla, and honey until combined. Add the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt, stirring until just combined.

2. Spoon the coffee into the center of the batter and gently swirl it in. Do not fully incorporate the coffee. Place the chocolate chunks in the center of the batter.

3. Microwave on full power for 1 minute 45 second to 2 minutes (I always do 2 minutes). Dig your spoon deep into the cake to spoon up melted chocolate with every bite. Serve with ice cream. ENJOY.

Overall Thoughts

When you live in the city, you need a compact stroller that’s easy to carry but still has ample storage. And the Influencer Air from Leclercbaby has all of this *And more! I’ve never seen a pram open and close so easily! You really can do it with just one hand. It’s so good! Sometimes lightweight prams can be flimsy and feel like they could tip, but even though this is light, it’s sturdy. I also liked the size of the brake pedal, as other strollers I’ve looked at have tiny ones that are hard to function, but this is nice and large, and you can manage it with any shoe.

What is it and how do you use it?
What is it and how do you use it?

I use this for long walks in the city, commutes, and strolls in the park. It is sturdy and easy to pack away – great when you’re in a small café or on public transport. It only weighs 6.6kg with a capacity of 3kg underneath the seat, which is impressive. It’s very convenient, especially when travelling around the city.

Is it worth the money?
Is it worth the money?

Most definitely. The price point matches the quality perfectly. The materials used are beautiful, especially the handlebars, which are made of luxe faux leather. There are also suspensions on each wheel, making the ride smooth on every surface. It can be used for a child up to 22kg, which means you’ll get a lot of use from it. And a big plus for me (as a very tired mum) was that the coffee cup attachment is included!

Would you recommend it?
Would you recommend it?

Without a doubt! Especially if you live in a busy area. But even if you live in a quieter location, you would still enjoy the small amount of boot space it takes up and that you can flip it open and closed with one quick, smooth motion *and just using one hand! And with all its clever functions it looks stylish too!
