SPOKE app
SPOKE app

May is Mental Health Month and holds host to Mental Health Awareness Week on the 15th-21st. But while we support the focus, we should be prioritising it all the time. But with busy minds and lives, it can be challenging. We find external tools can be really handy and recently discovered the SPOKE app – which is a bit like the Calm app but cooler. Originally designed to help Gen Z improve mental health issues, it’s now caught the eyes, and ears, of all ages. Using a combination of music, therapy, science and AI, it helps with health issues such as anxiety, stress and sleep issues.

The Joy of Being Selfish
The Joy of Being Selfish

“I was always taught not to be selfish, and that sharing and caring is incredibly important. And while I don’t want to quash those qualities and become self-centred, I do need to learn how to put myself first a little more. A friend recommended this to me as she was having similar issues with balance in her relationship after having kids. I’ve not finished it yet, but already finding it incredibly insightful and helpful. Ok, some parts I’m already doing, but it’s certainly helping me reconsider how I approach certain situations.”

Book a Couple’s Retreat

Retreat East, Suffolk
Retreat East, Suffolk

“I recently took 24 hours off parenting and headed to Retreat East in the Suffolk countryside. It was everything my mind, body and soul needed. Private spa facilities, outdoor baths, exceptional food, A LIE IN and absolute peace and quiet. I completely switched off from being Mum and let the beautiful surroundings of Retreat East look after me. It’s a real slice of luxury at an affordable price, with an accommodation style to suit everyone. Whilst they cater for children, I’d 100% recommend treating yourself to some adult time.”

Dine at a Chef’s Table

Chef's Table Experience @ Hamlet Wokingham
Chef’s Table Experience @ Hamlet Wokingham

“I hold my regular brunch clubs here, and the food is incredible. Both the chefs used to work at Heston Blumenthal’s restaurant, The Fat Duck, and next month I’ve booked to go to this new experience where you get to watch them in action. Usually, chef’s table tickets are way over £100, so I think £85 is pretty good value for the experience, and I already know the food will be great as I’m such a regular.”

Tetris
Tetris

“This is such a great film. I love plots based on real stories, and this is an unbelievable tale. I watched it with my husband, and we both loved it. Easy (and fun) to watch, and your phone won’t get a look in as it hooks you in, and you can’t take your eyes off the screen.”

Take Your Kids to TOTFEST

TOTFest - Yorkshire, Midlands, Berkshire & Hertfordshire
TOTFest – Yorkshire, Midlands, Berkshire & Hertfordshire

“I took my two boys (18 months and 3 years old at the time) to TOTfest last year, and we loved it! They had the best day filled with bouncy castles, dancing, playing, character meets and more. There were so many activities to keep them busy throughout the day – their favourites being the Hartbeeps tent and the baby rave! My eldest was talking about it and wanting to go back for weeks!”
